Home Remedies for Age Spots

Brown spots or age spots that appear on the face, hands and neck are generally caused by excessive exposure to the sun.  To prevent them protect yourself from hours upon hours in the sun with sunscreen, hats and umbrellas.  To lighten up existing spots give the following FOUR natural remedies a try.

ONE
Strawberry Mask
A strawberry and yogurt mask is an effective, yet gentle treatment for lightening age spots.  Frankincense essential oil stimulations skin rejuvenation.
Ingredients:
1 Fresh Strawberry
2 Teaspoons of Plain Yogurt
2 Drops of Frankincense Essential Oil
½ Teaspoon of Pink Cosmetic Clay
Directions:
Mash the strawberry and mix one teaspoon of it’s juice with the yogurt.  Mix well, then add the clay and mix.  Drop in the 2 drops of essential oil and mix again.
Application Instructions:
Apply the mixture to freshly washed skin.  Leave on for 20 minutes, then remove with a soft warm and wet washcloth.  Follow up with a moisturizer.  For best results, use this homemade mask twice a week.

TWO
Lemon Treatment for Fading Spots
Paint your age spots with undiluted lemon juice daily, using a soft bristle brush.  Lemon juice is a naturally powerful bleaching agent.  You should see results within 3 months.

THREE
Curing Age Spots with Aloe Vera Gel
Simply rub Aloe Vera gel directly onto the affected areas twice a day.  You should notice improvements within a few months.

FOUR
Load up on Antioxidants and Enzymes
Antioxidants are good internally, but we can also benefit externally from these ingredients. When making homemade skin care treatments look for products loaded with enzymes and antioxidants like, blueberries, strawberries, cherries, papaya, pineapple, pumpkin, grapes, pomegranate juice, and raspberries.  Natural food enzymes, when applied to the skin over time, speed up exfoliation of dead skin cells on the surface, which then stimulates the growth of new skin cells.  Treat your spots with papaya pulp, pineapple or berry juice, simply dab your dark spot with a soaked cotton ball.  Eventual resulting in existing age spots gradually fading away.

Let’s all be our best from the inside and the outside.

DIY Herbal Bath Salts

Only two weeks of school left here in the sunshine state of Florida until summer vacation.  I do enjoy the summer months living on the coast line with the beautiful gulf being my swimming pool.  Being so busy with housework, cooking meals, laundry, playing with my daughter, my job and life’s chaos.  I have a Mommy tradition of spending a few days of “Me Time” just before school is out for the summer.  I spend this time alone doing what I love, floating in our swimming pool, taking a hot bath, shopping, reading or laying on the beach.  I am sharing my favorite Herbal Bath Salt recipe with you today.  Go ahead and enjoy some  “Me Time” soaking in a hot herbal infused bath.

DIY Herbal Bath Salt Recipe
Ingredients:
½ Cup of Epsom Salt
½ Cup of Salt
¼ Dried Botanicals {lavender, rose petals, calendula petals}
A few drop’s of Lavender Essential Oil
Directions:
Mix together all of the ingredients and store in a jar of your choice.  To use, simply scoop up about ¼ cup of the lovely salt mixture and toss into your bath water. Enjoy! After your bath, follow up with a organic body lotion by Natural Garden Soaps.

This recipe is perfectly formulated with a blend of organic ingredients to help draw toxins from your body, ease body aches, relieves congestion, improves breathing, and promotes a good night’s sleep.

I placed my bath salts in a old candle jar with a lid.  I think that it looks so pretty sitting in my bathroom.

Do you have any traditions before the end of the school year?

Skincare Q&A

You've got Questions?  I’ve got Answers!
Today I am super excited to be writing a Q&A blog post about some of my handmade skincare products by Natural Garden Soaps.  I have chose to include some of the most frequently asked questions about my organic skincare line.  Here I've put together some informative information regarding a few of my handmade soaps, shea butter lotions and body scrubs, so you can find them all in one place!

Q: What do you recommend for dry, sensitive skin?
A: Without any hesitation, I recommend my Lavender Shea Butter Soap.  The lavender and shea butter gently provides superior moisturizing and soothing benefits to all of you with sensitive skin.  Follow up by slathering on my calming Lavender Shea Butter Body Lotion all over your body.

Q: What soap do you suggest for people suffering from eczema?
A: I certainly recommend my Honey Bee & Oatmeal Soap, I have gotten amazing feedback from many of my customers.  The key ingredients are coconut oil, beeswax, honey and oatmeal which all sooths the skin, heals and moisturizes.

Q: Do you have a soap or lotion that is unscented or scent-free?
A: Yes! Unscented Shea Butter Soap and Unscented Shea Butter Body Lotion, they both can be used anywhere on your body that needs cleansing, hydration and moisturizing without any smell.  Perfect for those of you with sensitive noses.

Q: Should I use Body Scrub Cubes before or after I shave?
A: Use my Sugar Scrub Cubes before you shave to exfoliate your skin, removing dead skin cells, teases out unwanted ingrown hairs plus it will help you shave closer and smoother. If you want to moisturize after you shave, use yummy Vanilla Grapefruit Shea Butter Lotion.  This rich and thick lotion will make your legs silky, soft and super smooth.

Q: What soap and lotion should I use on my face?
A: Break out the Shea Butter Sage Soap, this bar is infused with sage essential oil which acts as a mild inflammation that improves the skin's overall appearance, making pores seem smaller thus having a firming effect.  Follow up with my Natural Facial Toner and Shea Butter Facial Lotion.

I hope that you enjoyed all of this information about my handmade line of organic skincare.  Thanks for stopping by, I love unexpected visitors at any hour. {I am thrilled.....that you visited my blog}!
